Verity Howard

Verity is a ceramic artist creating works that explore mystery, trigger memories, generate atmosphere and evoke a sense of place. She makes distinct bodies of work, taking inspiration from the landscape, history, and culture surrounding her in rural Herefordshire. Using clay as a medium for drawing and monoprinting, Verity creates sculptural, slab-built, ceramic forms. It is important to Verity that the form and surface of her work create a harmonious composition and are integral to her subject matter.

After graduating from Manchester School of Art in 2015, with a First-Class BA (Hons) Degree in Three-Dimensional Design, Verity returned to Hereford to set up her art practice. Shortly afterwards, she took part in Project Network Ceramics Residency at Guldagergaard, Denmark. In 2017, Verity was selected for the Crafts Council’s Hothouse programme. Verity exhibited in the IV. International Ceramics Triennial, Slovenia in 2018, and also took part in New Designers One Year In. In 2019, Verity exhibited at Ceramic Art London and she was featured in several international publications including Ceramics Art and Perception and New Ceramics. In 2021, Verity became a Selected Member of the Craft Potters Association. Verity exhibited at Ceramic Art Andenne, Belgium in 2022.
